A Girl In too Many Roles

3-to-1

She must cook!

She must Clean!

She must be pretty but not too pretty!

She must be in shape but not show her body.

She must be young but not too young.

She must be smart but not too smart.

She must indure but not show struggle.

She must trust me even when I’m wrong.

She must wait for me until I’m ready.

Yet what will be her prize for this, pain.

Revolutionaries for Education

Suli Breaks
Today I want to talk about spoken word, my recent favorite has become Suli Break. I first heard of this spoken word videos a few months ago and it was an amazing experience. His video “Why I hate School but Love Education” was inspiring to me.
He stands firm in his words and engages all ages with the way he speaks. I could relate to his speech as a current college senior trying to understand what was my end goal for schooling, has it me prepared for the world? I know that many college students are lost. Everyone keeps telling us, stay in school get good grades because it will help your future but is that really the case? I wonder this all the time but my mind has been program to just keep going because that is what you’re suppose to do. If you feel that way too you will love this video because Suli Breaks covers this from head to toe.
Education in our society has grown into a mess of marketing propaganda and control environments. There is so much to learn about this world and yet we become confined textbook and test. Our education system needs a widespread renovation to actually create critical thinking and not the same topics that will not apply to most people’s future. Our education should be for the cultivating of the people not a money maker for the few.

Suli Breaks
If you have not seen any of this his work I suggest you watch right now. He is not afraid to hit hard issues of our current day society. His gives words of encouragement and I believe the whole word should have a chance to hear him speak.Education
